What Is A Front-Mount Intercooler?
An intercooler cools the compressed air from the turbo before it enters the engine. Upgrading it doesn't add power by itself, but it lets a tuned car hold power without heat-soak on a hot day or a long pull.
How it works
Compressing air heats it, and hot air is less dense and more prone to knock. The intercooler is a radiator for that charge air. A larger or more efficient core keeps intake temperatures down over sustained boost, so the ECU doesn't have to pull timing to stay safe. A front-mount sits in the main airflow for maximum cooling; the trade-off can be a slightly longer pipe run and marginal lag.
What to actually expect
Don't expect a dyno headline from an intercooler alone. Expect consistency: the same strong pull on lap three or on a 30-degree day that you got on the first cool run. It's a supporting mod, essential once you tune for more boost, near-pointless on a stock, lightly-driven car.
